Bio

Jonathan Jones' contributions to Tallahassee Community College Athletics date back to the turn of the century and have covered various roles and responsibilities.

The transition to the ATC role was seamless after Jones spent the 2018-19 campaign as the lead women's basketball assistant coach while also utilizing his skills in strength and fitness to assist then-head athletic trainer Charlie Holliday.

Jones' first assignment at Tallahassee was assistant coach/strength, fitness and skill development for the women's basketball team (2000-03). During his first season, Tallahassee captured the 2001 NJCAA Region 8/FCCAA State Championship and brought home a third-place finish at the NJCAA Tournament.

In 2003, he transitioned to the Eagles' men's basketball team and spent the next two seasons as strength and fitness coach under head coach Eddie Barnes.

Jones returned to women's basketball in 2005, this time responsible for player development, focusing on all aspects of the game ranging from skill development and strength and fitness while also organizing and implementing practice plans.

In 2007, Jones added to his responsibilities. While continuing his service to women's basketball, he became a valued member of the Eagles' softball coaching staff, where he was responsible for implementing a detailed sports performance strength and fitness program. His efforts helped Tallahassee capture NJCAA Region 8B Championships in 2008, 2011 and 2014. The 2011 team finished third at the NJCAA Tournament, and the 2014 squad also won Panhandle Conference and FCSAA State Championships.

During the 2012-13 campaign, Jones implemented a strength and fitness program for the Eagles' baseball team, who captured the Panhandle Conference Championship and ascended to the No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA.

In addition to 16 years of training experience including injury care and prevention, personal training, strength and conditioning, facility management, and collegiate coaching, Jones has received national certifications from the National Athletic Training Association (ATC), National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) and American Red Cross.

After earning his A.A. from Tallahassee Community College in 2015, Jones attended the University of West Florida, where he graduated in 2018 with a degree in athletic training.

Jones is married to the former Tamara Bertrand and has two children, Brian Dion and Taylor Kamlie.
