Eagles slip slightly in national rankings

TALLAHASSE, Fla. (April 17, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College suffered a slight three-spot drop to No. 6 in the new NJCAA Division I Softball Poll, released on Wednesday.

Tallahassee, who went 3-3 in its six games last week, moved down from its previous No. 3 ranking while College of Southern Idaho, McLennan (Texas) Community College and Chattanooga State (Tenn.) Community College jumped in front of the Eagles.

The top two teams in the poll remained the same – No. 1 Indian River State College and No. 2 Arizona Western College.

Indian River State and Tallahassee are ranked 1-2 in this week’s FCSAA Softball Coaches’ Poll while NJCAA No. 10 Polk State College and No. 18 College of Central Florida are ranked No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.

Meanwhile, Tallahassee’s run in the NJCAA Division I Baseball Poll ended. The Eagles fell out of the rankings following a 1-3 week.

The top two teams in the nation – No. 1 Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College and No. 2 Chipola College – have appeared on Tallahassee’s schedule in 2014.

The Eagles swept three games from Chattahoochee Valley and picked up one win in five tries against Chipola during Panhandle Conference play.

Tallahassee has also played three games against No. 7 Gulf Coast State College and has two more ahead on the schedule.

The Eagles received the most points (9) in the voting among teams not ranked.
