Eagle fans urged to support Bike MS

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 11, 2013) – When the North Florida Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society hosts its Bike MS: PGA TOUR Cycle to the Shore on September 28-29, there will be a distinct Tallahassee Community College flavor.

Jonathan Jones, local strength and conditioning professional who provides services to a number of TCC’s student-athletes, is participating in the annual event. Not only that, but he will do so while wearing the school’s blue and gold color scheme and the athletic department’s Tallahassee eagle logo.

“This started out as a way to stay fit and grew into an opportunity to reach out to other communities (of people). God put it in my spirit to do this and I hope this is the beginning of something bigger,” said Jones.

Bike MS is the premier fundraising cycling series in the nation. Bike MS: PGA Tour Cycle to the Shore is a two-day event that benefits the North Florida Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Participants cycle from St. Augustine, Fla., to Daytona on day one and back to St. Augustine on day two.

Jones is participating on the first day of the ride.

Each cyclist must raise a minimum of $200, in addition to their registration fee, before check-in in order to participate in the event.

Director of Athletics Rob Chaney is encouraging TCC students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as other individuals who follow TCC Athletics, to support Jones in his upcoming journey.

“Jonathan has invested in TCC’s athletic program over the years, and I know he would appreciate the TCC family joining his efforts in this worthy cause,” said Chaney.
