Polls unkind this week to Eagle men, women

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 4, 2013) – Tallahassee Community College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams both took a hit in the FCSAA Basketball Coaches’ Polls, released on Tuesday.

In the FCSAA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll, Tallahassee dropped one spot to No. 7, swapping places with St. Petersburg College, who replaced the Eagles at No. 6.

Chipola College and Gulf Coast State College continue to set the pace atop the poll while Florida State College at Jacksonville moved out of a tie for No. 3 and into sole possession of the ranking. Northwest Florida State College jumped from No. 5 to No. 4 and Palm Beach State College, who shared the No.3 ranking last week, dropped back to No. 5.

After Tallahassee, Pensacola State College and Hillsborough Community College remained No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, and College of Central Florida entered the poll at No. 10.

In the men’s poll, Tallahassee, who is in the midst of a three-week layoff, dropped three spots to No. 8.

Chipola, Northwest Florida State, Santa Fe College and Central Florida remained 1-4. After that, there were some major shakeups.

Pensacola State, Eastern Florida State College and Broward College jumped two spots each to No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.

Like Tallahassee, Miami Dade College slid three spots, landing at No. 9.

The No. 10 ranking belonged to newcomer Daytona State College.
