Back in action, Eagle men up one spot in FCSAA poll
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 11, 2013) – Following a three-week layoff, Tallahassee Community College’s men’s basketball team returned to play at last weekend’s Milton H. Johnson Panhandle Classic. Two convincing victories later, the Eagles made a move up the FCSAA Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll.
Tallahassee (7-4) moved up one spot to No. 7 in this week’s rankings. With 77 total points in the voting, the Eagles narrow landed ahead of No. 8 Daytona State College (75 points). Miami Dade College and Gulf Coast State College round out the top ten.
The Eagles defeated State College of Florida (84-61) and Baton Rouge (La.) Community College (69-45) at last weekend’s annual event, hosted by Chipola College.
At the top of the rankings, Chipola and Northwest Florida State College remained 1-2 once again. The College of Central Florida and Santa Fe College swapped spots in this week’s poll, coming in at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Pensacola State College and Eastern Florida State College remained No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
The women’s poll had considerably more movement, including Tallahassee, who dropped two spots to No. 9.
A loss by previously unbeaten Chipola, allowed Gulf Coast State to move into the No. 1 spot. Chipola only dropped one spot to No. 2.
Palm Beach State College continued to rise in the poll, climbing two spots to No. 3 while Florida State College at Jacksonville dropped one spot to No. 4.
Northwest Florida State slipped one spot to No. 5 and St. Petersburg College, despite pulling the upset of then-top-ranked Chipola, stayed put at No. 6.
