Women climb, men slip in latest FCSAA rankings

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 13, 2013) – The Florida College System Activities Association released its latest Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls on Tuesday, and Tallahassee Community College landed in the top five in both rankings.

Reversing the trend from last week, the Eagle women made a slight climb in the new poll while the men slipped one spot.

In the women’s rankings, Tallahassee is ranked No. 5, up two spots from No. 7. All five Panhandle Conference schools are in the top ten led by No. 1 Chipola College, No. 2 Gulf Coast State College and No. 3 Northwest Florida State College. Pensacola State College is ranked ninth.

Despite remaining unbeaten through four games, the Eagle men dropped one spot to No. 4.

Previous No. 1 College of Central Florida was upset on November 9 by the University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie and dropped to No. 3. Chipola and Northwest Florida State are ranked 1-2.

Like the women’s poll, all five Panhandle schools are in the top ten. Pensacola State shares the number six ranking with Daytona State, and Gulf Coast State is ranked tenth.

The Eagle men will play at Daytona State at 4 p.m. Saturday in the second game of a weekend road trip. Tallahassee plays at St. Petersburg College at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Eagle women will step out of Region 8 play for a game at Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
