Home openers up next for Eagle Softball, Baseball

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 4, 2015) - Tallahassee Community College's spring sports teams are set to open the home portion of their 2015 schedules beginning at 2 p.m. Friday when softball hosts Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College in a doubleheader at the TCC Softball Complex.

Game 2 is scheduled for a 4 p.m. first pitch. 

Wednesday's matchup will feature two teams who have enjoyed successful starts to the 2015 season. 

Tallahassee, ranked No. 3 in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' Preseason Poll and No. 9 by the NJCAA, won three games at the JUCO Kickoff Tournament and Showcase in Clearwater, Fla. The Eagles defeated St. Petersburg College (9-0), Gordon (Ga.) State College (12-2) and Richard Bland (Va.) College (13-0) by a combined score of 34-2.

Meanwhile, ABAC is off to a 3-1 start to the season.

ABAC received votes in the NJCAA preseason poll. 

Friday will also mark the home opener for the Eagle Baseball team when they host Gordon State at 4 p.m.

Gordon State swept two games from Tallahassee during opening weekend at the First Pitch Classic. The Highlanders won 5-0 on Friday and 9-8 on Saturday, the latter coming in walk-off fashion when they scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh. 

Tallahassee defeated Florida State College at Jacksonville, 7-6, on Tuesday to improve to 2-3.

The teams will conclude their two-game weekend series at 2 p.m. Saturday.
