TCC places 11 on coaches' all-PC basketball teams

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 28, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College placed a total of 11 players – four men, seven women – on the Coaches' All-Panhandle Conference basketball teams, released by the College on Friday. 

Of the 11 total selections, three – men's basketball's Earvin Morris and Cameron Naylor and women's basketball's Addesha Collins – were named first-team all-conference.  

Morris, a sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., played in 22 games and led the Eagles in scoring (14.4 ppg), steals (1.1 spg), field goal percentage (50.5 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (46.9 percent). He also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. In ten PC games, he averaged a team-best 14.3 points. 

Naylor, a sophomore from Jacksonville, Fla., averaged 12.8 points and 5.3 rebounds, both second-best on the team, in 24 games. He shot 48.6 percent from the floor, another category that landed him number two on the Eagles' roster. In 12 PC games, he averaged 13.1 points. 

Both Morris and Naylor were among the top ten scorers in the Panhandle Conference. 

Collins, a sophomore from Anniston, Ala., led the Eagles and finished third in the conference in scoring at 13.9 points per game. In 29 games, she also led the team in assists (3.2 apg) and steals (2.2 spg) – all while averaging better than 30 minutes per game (31.5 min/game). She shot 42.1 percent from the floor and 74.4 percent from the free throw line. In 12 PC games, Collins averaged 12.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists. 

In men's voting, freshman Dirk Williams was a second-team all-conference selection and sophomore Duran Porter was named honorable mention all-PC. 

Williams, a native of Homewood, Ala., was third on the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game and averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 25 games while shooting a team-high 83.3 percent from the free throw line. He averaged 10.6 points in 12 PC games. 

Porter, a native of Macon, Ga., averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds and shot 64.7 percent from the floor in 25 games. He averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 12 PC games.   

Tallahassee had three players named second-team all-conference in the women's voting: sophomores Tyeshia Guinnie and Aariel Allen and freshman Marija Pacar. Sophomore Jasmine Queen and freshmen Benedicta Makakala and Teleshia Riley were honorable mention All-PC picks.  

Guinnie, a native of Tallahassee and a former standout at Rickards High School, averaged 12.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 29 games. She averaged 10.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 12 PC games. 

Allen, a native of Gainesville, Fla., averaged 10.0 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor over 28 games. In league play, she averaged just under ten rebounds per game (9.7 rpg) and scored at an 8.2 points per game clip. 

Pacar, a native of Podstrana, Croatia, averaged 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 29 games. She matched Guinnie for team-high honors behind the three-point line, hitting 32.8 percent of her attempts. She averaged 9.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 12 PC games. 

Queen, a native of Riverview, Fla., averaged 7.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 29 games. In 12 PC games, she averaged 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds. 

Makakala, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, averaged 3.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal in 29 games. She averaged 3.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 12 PC games. 

Riley, a native of Brampton, ONT, Canada, averaged 5.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 27 games. She averaged 4.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 11 PC games.
