FCSAA, Panhandle Conference announce all-academic teams

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 8, 2015) – The academic accolades continue to roll in for Tallahassee Community College’s student-athletes.

Last month, five student-athletes, as well as the Eagles’ baseball and softball teams were lauded by the NJCAA for their success in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year. On Wednesday, the College recognized student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team by both the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) and Panhandle Conference (PC).

Twenty-eight student-athletes were named to the FCSAA’s All-Academic Team for having attained a minimum 3.30 GPA, either during the current academic year or over multiple years.

Tallahassee’s baseball team led the way with 13 All-FCSAA selections followed by softball with 10. Women’s basketball had three honorees and men’s basketball, two.

Four student-athletes – women’s basketball’s Benedicta Makakala and softball’s Taesha DuBoise, Mariah Rivera and Karley Yeager – made the FCSAA honor roll for the second straight season. Baseball’s Chad Mabini, a 2013 all-academic team member, also earned a spot on the list for a second time.

The 28 FCSAA honorees were joined by eight additional individuals to give the Eagles 36 representatives on the Panhandle Conference All-Academic Team.

To earn all-conference recognition, student-athletes had to attain a minimum 3.0 GPA, either during the current academic year or over multiple years.

The Eagles’ baseball (15) and softball (14) teams again led the way followed by women’s basketball (four) and men’s basketball (three).

Seven student-athletes earned All-PC recognition for a second time.
