TCC Softball climbs to No. 3 in FCSAA Coaches’ Poll, baseball hangs on to No. 1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 18, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College’s softball team continued its ascent in the FCSAA Softball Coaches’ Poll on Tuesday, garnering a No. 3 ranking in the latest poll. 

Tallahassee, off to a 4-0 start in Panhandle Conference play for the first time in 14 years, climbed four spots from No. 7, again making the biggest jump within the rankings. The Eagles, who are 20-7 overall, received two first-place votes and 147 total points in the voting, just three points behind No. 2 College of Central Florida.

Indian River State College, who received 18 of the 22 first-place votes, continues to be a runaway pick at No. 1. Polk State sits immediately behind Tallahassee at No. 4. 

Tallahassee is one of three Panhandle Conference schools in the top ten – Chipola College and Northwest Florida State College are No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. 

Daytona State College, Miami Dade College, St. Petersburg College and State College of Florida round out the top ten. 

In the FCSAA Baseball Coaches’ Poll, Tallahassee received the No. 1 ranking for a second straight week. The Eagles captured 17 of 21 first-place votes and 203 total points in voting to outdistance Chipola, State College of Florida and Gulf Coast State College, who remained two through four, respectively. 

Polk State and Seminole State College of Florida, both unranked a week ago, climbed into the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. St. Johns River State College, Eastern Florida State College, Northwest Florida State and Central Florida complete this week’s poll.
