  • Mike McLeod, baseball – 800th NJCAA win (all at Tallahassee)
  • Eddie Barnes, men’s basketball – 450th NJCAA win and 250th win at Tallahassee
  • Patti Townsend, softball – 300th NJCAA win (all at Tallahassee)

Members of TCC’s softball team also received their 2014 Panhandle Conference champions t-shirt from Chaney and Dr. Sally Search, Vice President for Student Affairs.

The following night, the College’s Department of Campus and Civic Engagement celebrated the achievement of students, faculty and staff at its annual Student Leadership & Service Awards banquet.

As part of the awards presentation, TCC Athletics named baseball’s Victor Cole its Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and softball’s Alexis Huss its Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Each of TCC’s four teams submitted a nominee based on excellence in the classroom and on his/her respective field of play, as well as citizenship and participation in extracurricular activities, including service learning and volunteerism.

Cole, a sophomore from Cordova, Tenn., transitioned into the Eagles’ starting rotation in 2014 after being named Panhandle Conference Fireman of the Year as a freshman. In two seasons, he has posted a record of 11-2.

Cole, who has been an honors student while at TCC, has signed with Liberty University.

Huss, a sophomore from Frankfort, Ill., helped lead the Eagles to their first Panhandle Conference championship since 1998 and has been a two-year starter at first base. She, too, has been an honors student and has represented the softball team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the past two years.

Other nominees for the scholar-athlete of the year awards were Michael Saxton (men’s basketball) and Jasmine Queen (women’s basketball).
