Red Elephant Pizza and Grill hosts share event for TCC Athletics October 9

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 6, 2013) - On Wednesday, October 9, Red Elephant Pizza and Grill will welcome Tallahassee Community College Athletics for a share event to support the College's Pathways to Success Scholarship.

On Wednesday, both Red Elephant locations will donate 15% of its revenues when customers - both dine in and carry out - tell their servers they are there to support TCC Athletics.

In turn, TCC Athletics will contribute the proceeds to the College's Pathways to Success Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to individuals pursuing their GED diploma and transitioning into postsecondary education, technical programs, and the workforce.

The share event is supporting the TCC Foundation's annual Campaign for TCC, which, this year, offered team captains to reach beyond the TCC family and into the community to create awareness and raise funds for particular TCC scholarships and programs.

Director of Athletics Rob Chaney is a team captain, however, instead of raising funds for athletics, he saw this as an opportunity for the department to support another area of need.

"I felt this was an ideal opportunity for us (athletics) to help another scholarship program," said Chaney. "After talking with my Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, it was determined the Pathways to Success Scholarship was where we wanted to focus our energies during this particular opportunity."

According to Chaney, there is a possibility the Eagles' student-athletes may be "working" on the floor in a customer service role. At the very least, many student-athletes and coaches are expected to be in the stores on Wednesday to raise awareness for the scholarship, as well as TCC Athletics.

Red Elephant is located in Midtown at 1872 Thomasville Road (open 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.) and in Kerry Forest at 2910 Kerry Forest Parkway (open 11 a.m.-9 p.m.).
