Eagles roll by South Georgia, improve to 4-1

DOUGLAS, Ga. (January 29, 2013) - FCSAA No. 9 Tallahassee Community College (4-1) wrapped up its season-opening five-game road trip in convincing fashion, defeating South Georgia College, 12-4, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles racked up 12 hits and took advantage of seven Tiger errors to nab the victory.

Five Tallahassee pitchers combined to limit South Georgia to five hits.

Starter Robert Garcia tossed three shutout innings before giving way to a quartet of relievers.

Victor Cole (1-0), the son of former big league pitcher Victor Cole, Sr., went the next 2.1 innings and was credited with the victory.

Bradley Robbins (1.1 IP) and Ryan Deckert (0.1 IP) bridged the gap between Cole and Nick Baker, who shut out the Tigers over the final two innings.

Meanwhile, Matt Bahnick led the Eagles' 12-hit attack by going 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Clay Fenwick (2-for-6, three RBIs) and Anthony Torres (2-for-5, two RBIs) also had multi-hit games for Tallahassee.

Tallahassee broke open a 5-2 game with three runs in the seventh, then added one in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

The Eagles will play their home opener at 3:30 p.m. Friday against South Georgia in the back end of a home-and-home series with the Tigers.
