Eagles sweep Thomas JV, head to PC play 26-4

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 10, 2013) - In its final Panhandle Conference tuneup, FCSAA No. 3 Tallahassee Community College rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Thomas University's JV squad on Sunday afternoon, winning 18-2 and 14-5 at Eagle Field.

Tallahassee, winners of four straight and 16 of 17 to close non-conference play, will carry a gaudy 26-4 record into Wednesday's PC opener at Northwest Florida State College (6 p.m.).

In Sunday's opener, Nick Deckert (3-1) tossed four shutout innings to earn the win. He allowed five hits and struck out five.

Deckert received plenty of offensive support from his teammates, led by Chad Mabini, who was 3-for-4 with a home run. John Price, Jr., also had three hits (3-for-5) and Cody Borup added a pair of hits.

In the nightcap, the Eagles' bats continued to roll in the 14-5 win.

Anthony Torres paced the Eagles with a 4-for-4 outing. Tyler York homered as did Clay Fenwick, whose came on the inside-the-park variety.

Cody Alling (2-0) was the winning pitcher in game two. He went four innings and allowed three hits and three runs, all unearned.
