Eagles climb in Perfect Game rankings, maintain top spot in FCSAA poll

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 26, 2013) - Tallahassee Community College continued its climb up the national baseball polls on Tuesday, earning a No. 5 ranking in Perfect Game's JUCO Top 25. 

Perfect Game's JUCO Top 25 is a bi-weekly poll that ranks teams from all divisions of two-year baseball, including NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, the California Community College Athletic Association and the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. 

The Eagles, whose 33 victories are the most of any team in Perfect Game's Top 25, moved up four spots from No. 9. Tallahassee began the season unranked. 

Tallahassee is one of three teams from Florida in Perfect Game's top eight – the Eagles are joined by No. 2 Miami Dade College and No. 8 State College of Florida. Two other teams from Florida landed in the Top 25 – No. 16 Polk State College and No. 20 Gulf Coast State College. 

The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) also released its weekly Baseball Coaches' Poll on Tuesday and, Tallahassee claimed the state's No. 1 ranking for the second straight week. 

The Eagles received 14 of the 19 first-place votes and 184 total points in voting. 

Miami Dade, State College of Florida, Gulf Coast State and St. Johns River State College round out the top five. 

Polk State leads the second five and is followed by Seminole State College, Palm Beach State College, Lake-Sumter State College and Chipola College. 

The Eagles, off to a 7-1 start in Panhandle Conference play, resume action on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. eastern game at Pensacola State College. The Eagles have taken the first two games of the series with the Pirates. 

Tallahassee and Gulf Coast State open a three-game set at Eagle Field this Friday.
