TCC’s Trent Higginbothem named FCSAA Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 26, 2013) - Tallahassee Community College sophomore third baseman Trent Higginbothem was named the Florida College System Activities Association's (FCSAA) Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Higginbothem, a native of Pace, Fla., batted .500 (8-for-16) with six runs scored, two home runs and nine RBI in four games during the voting period. His efforts helped Tallahassee to a 3-1 record last week, including a series victory over arch-rival Chipola College.

In the series opener against Chipola, Higginbothem went hitless, although he reached base three times (two walks, one HBP), scored once and drove in a run in the Eagles' 13-6 loss. In Tallahassee's final three games, however, he went a combined 8-for-13, leading the Eagles to three straight victories.

Higginbothem was 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in the Eagles' 11-2, game two win over Chipola (March 20) then picked up two more hits in the series finale with the Indians (March 22), a 4-2 Tallahassee victory.

In Tallahassee's final game of the week against Pensacola State (March 24), his two-run, ninth-inning homer capped a 3-for-5 afternoon and clinched the Eagles' 8-5, come-from-behind win.

Higginbothem and the Eagles are currently ranked No. 1 in the FCSAA Baseball Coaches' Poll and No. 5 in Perfect Game's JUCO Top 25.
