#BirdGang rallies against Darton State to complete 4-0 weekend

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (February 1, 2014) – FCSAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College came from behind to defeat Darton (Ga.) State College, 6-4, and complete a perfect 4-0 weekend at the First Pitch Classic, hosted by Gulf Coast State College.

The Eagles defeated Gordon (Ga.) State College, 7-2, in Saturday's early game.

Against Darton State, Tallahassee trailed 4-2 before freshman Geremy Walton knotted things on a two-run homer. University of Florida transfer Christian Dicks' RBI-triple scored the go-ahead run for the Eagles.

Collin Strall (1-0) picked up the win in relief for Tallahassee. He pitched the final two innings and struck out two. Ryan Deckert started for Tallahassee but left after 3.2 innings as a result of taking a comebacker off the hand.

Offensively, Bobby Rice was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

In the first game of the day, Shaun Herbert (1-0) started and threw four innings for the victory. He gave up two runs and had three strikeouts.

Quincy Nieporte led the Eagles at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base. Dicks was 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Tallahassee will travel to Florida State College at Jacksonville on Tuesday then open a three-game set against Gordon State on Thursday at Eagle Field in its home opener.
