Commodores stun Tallahassee with ninth-inning rally to end Eagles’ season

LAKELAND, Fla. (May 12, 2014) – Gulf Coast State College scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to stun Tallahassee Community College, 5-4, and eliminate the Eagles from the NJCAA Gulf District/FCSAA State Baseball Tournament.

Tallahassee led 4-2 going to the bottom of the ninth and ace lefty Victor Cole, who went the distance, retired the Commodores' leadoff hitter but Trevor Foster reached base when a pop up dropped in between second base and right field to breathe life into Gulf Coast State. Ryan Koziol followed with a single and Nick Flair's ground rule double scored Foster and left the winning runs in scoring position.

One batter later, Brian Lamboy singled to right, scoring Koziol to tie and game and when Johnny Blue Craig's throw to home sailed over catcher Robert Henderson's head, Flair trotted home with the winning run.

Tallahassee had erased a 2-1 deficit on Quincy Nieporte's two-run single in the fifth and extended its lead to 4-2 with a run in the seventh.

Tallahassee's season ends at 40-18.
