Southern Miss inks TCC Baseball’s Connor O’Brien

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 19, 2014) – The University of Southern Mississippi has signed Tallahassee Community College baseball standout Connor O'Brien to a national letter of intent. 

O'Brien, a native of Tampa, Fla., transferred to Tallahassee after spending his freshman season at North Carolina State University, where he appeared in two games for the Wolfpack, who advanced to the 2013 College World Series. 

The 6-foot-1 right-hander pitched in 24 games for the Eagles in 2014, compiling a 1-3 record and 4.28 ERA. In 48.1 innings, he struck out 39 batters. 

In the classroom, O'Brien earned all-academic honors from both the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) and Panhandle Conference. 

Southern Miss, an NCAA Division I school located in Hattiesburg, Miss., competes in Conference USA.

In other TCC Baseball news, outfielder Cody Borup, who suited up for Tallahassee in 2013 and 2014, has joined Lynn University's program as a walk-on.

In 90 career games, Borup batted .272 with four home runs and 47 RBI.

Lynn, an NCAA Division II school located in Boca Raton, Fla., competes in the Sunshine State Conference.
