Eagles roll past Gordon State in series finale

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 7, 2015) – Ethan Crout's bases-clearing double keyed a six-run fourth inning for FCSAA No. 9 Tallahassee Community College in a 10-2 win over Gordon (Ga.) State College on Saturday afternoon.

Tallahassee took both games in the weekend series to improve to 4-3. The teams split their four-game season series after the Highlanders won games in Panama City, Fla., last Friday and Saturday.

After the teams traded first-inning runs, the Eagles grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second on Geremy Walton's RBI-single.

Gordon State tied the game in the top of the fourth but the Eagles scored the final eight runs in the game, beginning with the fourth inning outburst.

D.J. McKnight's double scored Walton with the first run of the inning, which proved to be the game-winner. Later in the inning, with Tallahassee leading 5-2, Crout stepped to the plate and doubled to deep right-center scoring Tyler Atwell, Robert Henderson and Cody Fulton

Crout was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. McKnight was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Thomas Nicoll went 5.0 innings to earn the victory for Tallahassee.

The Eagles return to action on Monday with a trip to Douglas, Ga., where they will play South Georgia State College. First pitch is 4 p.m.
