Eagles complete sweep of Shelton State with 9-0 win

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 15, 2015) – Three pitchers combined to lead Tallahassee Community College to a 9-0, three-hit shutout against Shelton (Ala.) State Community College on Sunday afternoon.

Tallahassee swept the three-game series from the Buccaneers to improve to 8-4 on the season.

Starter and winning pitcher Chad Mabini went five innings and allowed only one hit while striking out five. Zach Featherstone and Dustin Dye pitched two innings each and preserved the shutout.

The Eagles got all the offense they needed in their first at-bat, scoring three times, all with two outs.

Kyle Taddeo's single to left scored D.J. McKnight for the first run of the game. Shelton State was in position to get out of the inning with just one run allowed but right fielder Justin Cantrell misplayed the ball hit by Matt Olive and the error allowed Tyler Atwell and Taddeo to come home.

The Eagles added four more runs in the third and cruised from there.

Atwell and Chris Clark each went 2-for-4 to lead the Eagles offensively. Clark drove in a run while Atwell scored twice.

Tallahassee will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to South Georgia State College for a 4 p.m. game.
