Eagles host nationally-ranked Chattahoochee Valley

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 26, 2015) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team opens an 11-game home stand at 4 p.m. Friday when Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College visits Eagle Field for game one of a three-game series.

The series will conclude with games at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Eagles enter Friday's series opener at 9-6 but boasts a perfect 7-0 record at home.

Chattahoochee Valley, who advanced to the 2014 JUCO World Series as the NJCAA Southeastern District Champions, began this season ranked No. 20 in the NJCAA preseason polls and currently finds itself sitting at 8-5 for the season.

The Pirates are led by Tyler Lynn, one of four players to appear in all 13 games so far this season.  Lynn is currently batting a .467, which includes 21 hits, three doubles, a triple, and eight RBI.  Lynn is not only impressive with a bat but also showcases excellent base running skills that include 13 stolen bases and a team leading 14 runs.

Chattahoochee Valley is not a one trick pony, however, as Lynn is complimented by three other players who are in double digits for RBIs this year. Ryan Hagan, Kendal Ford, and Jake Maziar have put up impressive numbers this season.

Ford also boasts an impressive batting average at .455 this season with 13 RBI and three doubles.  He also has stolen nine bases this season without being caught.

Hagan has accounted for 15 RBIs this season, a team high, while batting .385 that includes a pair of doubles and a home run.

The Pirates round out their offensive firepower with Mazier who currently has a .424 batting average, six doubles, and 12 RBIs.

On the mound, Landon Faulkner leads the Pirates with a 2.11 ERA and has recorded 25 strikeouts over 21.1 innings pitched.  Faulkner has appeared in four games and is currently 2-2.

After the three-game series with Chattahoochee Valley, the Eagles will play host to Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College, who makes its annual March trip to the Panhandle. The longtime rivals are scheduled to play doubleheaders on Monday and Tuesday.
