Dye, McKnight lead Tallahassee past East Georgia State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 20, 2015) – Dustin Dye allowed one run over six innings and D.J. McKnight drove in three runs as Tallahassee Community College flew past East Georgia State College, 9-3, in Friday's series opener against the Bobcats. 

Tallahassee is 22-10 heading into Saturday's series finale, a 1 p.m. first pitch, which is the Eagles' final scheduled non-conference game of the season. 

Dye, a sophomore transfer from Catawba (N.C.) College, scattered five hits and walked one batter over six innings. He gave up three runs in the first, although only one was earned, but followed that up with five shutout innings. 

Micah Dunn finished things up with two scoreless innings. 

Trailing 3-0, Tallahassee got two of the runs back in the second then took the lead for good with another pair in the fourth. 

With two outs and nobody on, East Georgia State starter and losing pitcher Tyler Roberts walked three straight batters to load the bases. The next batter, McKnight, followed with a single to left to plate Mac Wilson and Ethan Crout and give the Eagles a 4-3 lead. 

After scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Tallahassee put the game away in the seventh. The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, the final two courtesy of Tyler Atwell's double to left-center. 

Tallahassee outhit East Georgia State, 11-6, behind McKnight, who was 2-for-5 and Tyler Kinard, who was 2-for-4. 

Atwell was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. 

Prior to Saturday's first pitch, fans are invited to attend the Sunshine Savings Bank Pregame Tailgate.
