Late game comeback not enough as Eagles fall to Indians

MARIANNA, Fla. (April 22, 2015) – Tallahassee Community College suffered a 10-6 setback at Chipola College on Wednesday evening, a loss that pushed the Eagles to the brink of elimination from postseason contention.

Tallahassee is now 28-19 on the season and 6-11 in Panhandle Conference play. The Eagles must win their final three games and Gulf Coast State College must drop its final two in order for Tallahassee to overtake the Commodores for the league's Wild Card berth.

Early on, it looked like Wednesday's game would be all Chipola. The Indians jumped out to a 6-0 lead, scoring a run in the first and third innings and four more in the fourth.

Another late game rally got the Eagles back into the game. Tallahassee got on the board in the sixth scoring a run.

The Eagles came storming back in the seventh inning with four runs to pull within a run at 6-5.

In the eighth inning the Eagles erased their early deficit with another run that tied the game at 6-6.

In the bottom of the eighth, however, Chipola scored the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk then added three more for a 10-6 lead.

The Eagles are back in action Thursday with a game at Northwest Florida State College. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. eastern.
