Walk-(off) this way: Eagles win twice in final AB on Opening Day

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (January 29, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team swept a doubleheader on Opening Day at the First Pitch Classic, hosted by Gulf Coast State College, and won both games in walk-off fashion.

The Eagles defeated NJCAA No. 11 Darton (Ga.) State College, 5-4, in the first game of the day then knocked off No. 5 Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College, 8-5, in game two.

In the opener, Tallahassee rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to erase the Cavaliers' 4-3 lead.

Following back-to-back walks to start the inning, a sacrifice bunt advanced both runners into scoring position. North Carolina State University transfer Kyle Cavanaugh, making his Tallahassee debut, brought both runners home with a single to left to give the Eagles the victory.

Cavanaugh finished 1-for-3.

Rion Murrah (1-0) picked up the win with three innings in relief of starting pitcher Brooks Buckler, who pitched the first four frames.

Murrah allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Against Chattahoochee Valley, it was Ethan Crout who played the role of hero with a three-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Crout finished 2-for-2.

Felix Dieguez (1-0) pitched 2.1 innings in relief to earn the victory.

Deyvid Silva homered in both games, smacking a solo shot against Darton State and a two-run homer against Chattahoochee Valley.

Tallahassee will play the same two teams on Saturday, beginning with a 1:30 p.m. eastern first pitch against Chattahoochee Valley. The Eagles and Cavaliers are slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
