MARIANNA, Fla. (April 17, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College, playing for the first time in six days, lost to Chipola College on Sunday afternoon, 9-0 in seven innings.

Coupled with Northwest Florida State College's win over Gulf Coast State College, Tallahassee (32-16) fell a game off the pace in the race for the Panhandle Conference's Wild Card berth. The Eagles are 6-10 in league play, one game behind the Raiders (7-9) with four games to play.

Tallahassee and Northwest Florida State will meet in the final two games of the season.

The loss snapped a modest three-game winning streak for Tallahassee, who defeated Chipola at Eagle Field last Monday, 17-7 in six innings. But rain forced the postponement of the return trip to Marianna on both Wednesday and Thursday, and the Eagles had the bye in the conference scheduled on Friday and Saturday.

Chipola got all the offense it needed in the first inning. The Indians scored four runs to knock out Tallahassee starter Rion Murrah (3-4) after just one-third of an inning.

Chipola scored two more runs in the fourth and three in the sixth.

Meanwhile, Tallahassee was unable to put any runs on the board against Chipola's Brady Acker.

The Eagles were retired in order just once but could only come up with one real scoring threat against Acker, who successfully dodged a two-on, none-out situation in the first.

Tallahassee didn't have another base runner reach second base until the sixth.

Kyle Cavanaugh went 2-for-3 and was the lone Eagle with multiple hits.

Tallahassee opens a home-and-home with Gulf Coast State at 5 p.m. Monday at Eagle Field.
