Quintet of Eagles selected for FCSAA Baseball All-Star Game
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 22, 2015) – With the 2015 Fall Ball season winding down, the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) will host its annual JUCO Baseball All-Star Classic on October 24-25 in Lakeland, Fla.
For Tallahassee Community College’s contingent of participants, Saturday will be their day to shine in front of coaches and scouts during workouts and a game.
While the Eagles are expected to carry a total of 12 players – all sophomores – to Lakeland, five were selected to participate in Saturday’s All-Star Game – outfielder Zach Featherstone, infielders Ethan Crout and Mac Wilson, and pitchers Rion Murrah and Thomas Nicoll.
Featherstone hit .287 with four home runs and 29 RBIs as a freshman while Crout is the Eagles’ top returning hitter – he batted .324 as a freshman and struck out only eight times in 139 official at-bats. Wilson returns following a .246 average and 20 RBIs during his freshman campaign.
On the bump, Murrah returns to the Eagles’ staff following a 4-1 record, one save and 4.80 ERA in 2015. Nicoll was 1-2 with a 5.04 ERA.
Following the All-Star Classic, the Eagles will prepare to host Florida A&M University at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
