#TCCBaseball: Eagles fly past South Georgia State for fifth win

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 1, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team improved to 5-0 with a 12-4 win over South Georgia State College on Wednesday afternoon.

Eight of the nine starting position players recorded a hit for the Eagles, led by Bryce Plummer, who was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Casey Cribb, who went 2-for-3, scored a run and drove in two.

It was Aaron Haughton who put the Eagles on the board with a three-run homer to left in the bottom of the first. Chris Hawkins second-inning sac-fly plated Jack Hartman, and Cribb blasted a two-run shot in the third to give starting pitcher Brooks Buckler a 6-0 cushion.

Buckler, who no-hit Pasco-Hernando State College over five scoreless innings in Friday's season opener, allowed only two hits in three innings and worked out of a bases loaded jam in the third to end his afternoon.

Meanwhile, the runs kept coming for Tallahassee, who added two in the fourth and four more in the sixth, the last two courtesy of Jordan Curtis' triple to deep center.

Four pitchers followed Buckler – Niko Leontarakis, Octavio Marin, Jake Hunkiar and Derick Garcia. Marin (1-0), who came on with two on and two outs in the fifth, pitched two innings to earn the victory.

Tallahassee and South Georgia State will complete the home-and-home set at 4 p.m. Friday in Douglas, Ga.
