#TCCBaseball: Gulf Coast State takes series opener

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 14, 2017) – Gulf Coast State College scored 12 unanswered runs to erase a 4-1 deficit and defeat Tallahassee Community College 13-4 on Tuesday in game one of a Panhandle Conference series. 

Tallahassee is now 15-16 (0-5 PC) while Gulf Coast State improved to 21-6 (2-3). 

The Commodores scored a first-inning run off Tallahassee starter Alex Stobert, but the Eagles responded with two runs in their first at-bat. 

After Tanner Thomas' double scored Bryce Plummer, an error allowed Thomas to come home. 

The Eagles extended their lead to 3-1 in the second on Deyvid Silva's RBI-single and added another run in the fourth when Jack Hartman scored on Plummer's ground out. 

Stobert pitched into the fifth but couldn't get out of the inning. He exited after Gulf Coast State scored a pair of runs, the second on Carnegy Calzado's single to left-center. 

The Commodores took the lead with a four-run sixth inning, scored four more in the eighth and a pair of insurance runs in the ninth. 

Hunter Shuff (1-2) took the loss for Tallahassee. 

Thomas went 1-for-3 with an RBI. 

Jack Hartman didn't record an official at-bat but walked four times. 

Tallahassee and Gulf Coast State will continue their four-game series at 5 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Field.
