#TCCBaseball: Buckler, Eagles take series opener vs. NWF

NICEVILLE, Fla. (April 4, 2017) – Brooks Buckler pitched eight strong innings to lead Tallahassee Community College past Northwest Florida State College, 6-2, in game one of a four-game series between the Panhandle Conference rivals.

Tallahassee (21-18, 6-7 PC) pulled within three games of the Raiders (25-11, 9-4) for second place in the league standings. More importantly, the third-place Eagles picked up a game on Gulf Coast State College (26-12, 4-9), who lost to Pensacola State College, and now lead the Commodores by two games.

Buckler scattered eight hits and one walk over eight innings. He also struck out four.

With the game at 2-all, Aaron Haughton's RBI-single in the eighth plated what proved to be the game-winning run. The Eagles added another run in the eighth then padded their lead with two more in the ninth.

Leading 6-2, Tallahassee head coach Mike McLeod called on Derick Garcia, who pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to lock up the victory.

The same two teams will play again in Niceville at 5 p.m. eastern on Thursday.
