#TCCBaseball drops 2018 opener to Pasco-Hernando

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 26, 2018) – Pasco-Hernando State College scored four runs in the fifth inning and defeated Tallahassee Community College, 7-5, on Friday in the 2018 season opener for both teams.

After spotting the Bobcats a 2-0 lead through one inning, Tallahassee scored three runs in the second.

Cameron Wright's RBI-singled plated the Eagles' first run of the second, and he later scored on a single from Trey Polewski. A Bobcat error allowed Jayson Sowden to come home and give Tallahassee a 3-2 lead.

The Eagles carried a 5-3 lead into the fifth but gave up four runs, the big blow courtesy of Taj Porter, whose three-run homer put Pasco-Hernando back in front, 7-5.

Tyler Buchanan and Dan Nichols combined to hold Tallahassee scoreless over the final six innings. Buchanan picked up the win, Nichols the save for Pasco-Hernando.

The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
