#TCCBaseball takes two from Grand Rapids

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 4, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College closed its pre-conference schedule on Sunday by sweeping a doubleheader from Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College.

The Eagles won game one, 10-0 in five innings, then picked up a 7-2, game two victory to complete the sweep.

Monday's originally scheduled game between Tallahassee and Grand Rapids will not be played, meaning the Eagles will take a 16-7 record into Tuesday's Panhandle Conference at defending national champion Chipola College (6 p.m. eastern).

Tallahassee led 9-0 through three innings of game one and, after stranding two runners in the fourth, pushed across the game-ending run in the fifth when Tanner Thomas drew a bases-loaded walk to score Rawlins Cleveland

The Eagles racked up 10 hits in just four-plus innings. Mason Miller and Trew Polewski each went 2-for-2 and scored twice.

Tyler Lehrmann (2-0) pitched a three-hit shutout to notch his second win of the season.

In game two, Malik Barrington (1-1) threw four scoreless innings and the Eagles' offense did what it needed to in a 7-2 win.

First- and third-inning errors by Grand Rapids eventually yielded a 5-0 lead for Tallahassee. The Eagles added a pair of two-out runs in the fourth.

Kyle Benson's sac-fly scored Miller, who led off the inning with a walk. Tucker Rayburn followed with a single to score Thomas and the Eagles led 7-0.

Grand Rapids broke up the shutout in the fifth, scoring a run against Collier Baggett, who relieved Barrington.

Tallahassee had only five hits in game two.

Benson and Taylor Lomack each went 2-for-3.
