#TCCBaseball gets past South Georgia State
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 31, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team defeated South Georgia State College, 7-2, on Thursday evening.
The Eagles improved to 3-2 with the win while the Hawks (0-3) remain winless on the season.
Tallahassee jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one at-bat. With one run already in, Logan Lacey's two-out, two-run homer capped the first inning scoring.
The Eagles increased their lead to 4-0 in the second.
Taylor Lomack led off the inning with a double and scored two batters later on Alex Ray's single to shallow right-center.
South Georgia State got on the board in the third, scoring a run off Tallahassee starter Tyler Lehrmann, and the score remained 4-1 into the seventh.
The Hawks scored a run in the top half then Tallahassee answered.
After the first two batters were retired, the next four reached base. With the bases loaded, Tyler Lala was hit by a pitch to score Luke Ard, and Ridge Abinsay scored on a wild pitch.
The Eagles added a final run in the eighth.
Ray finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Lacey was 1-for-3 with two runs driven in.
Lehrmann started and went four innings before giving way to Collier Baggett to start the fifth. Baggett (1-1) pitched 2.2 hitless innings for the win. He struck out four.
The same two teams will play a doubleheader in Douglas, Ga., on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
