#TCCBaseball wins high-scoring affair at FSCJ

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (February 21, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College picked up a 12-9 win against Florida State College-Jacksonville on Thursday afternoon.
The Eagles will take a 10-5 record into their annual series against Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College, which begins on Friday at Eagle Field.
Runs were aplenty on Thursday, particularly in the second inning when the teams combined for 11 runs.
After spotting the Blue Wave a 1-0 lead after an inning, Tallahassee scored five in the top of the second.
Tyler Lala's infield single scored Ridge Abinsay with the Eagles' first run. Following RBI-singles from Alex Ray and Taylor Lomack, Logan Lacey almost cleared the bases with a double to deep left. Ray and Lomack scored but Eric Hernandez was thrown out at the plate, leaving the Eagles in front, 5-1. The lead didn't last.
FSCJ sent 11 men to the plate in the bottom half of the inning, knocking out Tallahassee starter Leighton Alley in the process. Six runs crossed the plate to give the Blue Wave a 7-5 lead.
The Eagles tied the game in the fourth when Lacey singled home Ray and Lomack then took the lead for good an inning later. Back-to-back doubles by Jeff Athey and Chase Forester produced the go-ahead run, and Forester scored on an infield single to give Tallahassee a 9-7 lead.
Tallahassee added a run in the seventh but watched the Blue Wave scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to pull within 10-9.
Clinging to a one-run lead, the Eagles plated a couple of insurance runs in the ninth. Forester and Lala led off the inning with consecutive triples. Lala later scored on Trent Jeffcoat's sac-fly.
Lala was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Lacey finished 2-for-5 with four RBIs. Ray, Lomack and Forester also had two hits each.
Allen Roulette (2-0), who relieved Alley in the second, pitched five no-hit innings in relief to earn the win. Forester recorded the final six outs for his first save.
Friday's game against Chattahoochee Valley begins at 4 p.m.
