#TCCBaseball takes two from Edward Waters

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 14, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College snapped a four-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep of Edward Waters College's JV squad on Thursday afternoon. 

The Eagles won by the scores of 10-4 and 12-2. 

In the opener, Tallahassee spotted the Tigers a first-inning run before scoring ten unanswered runs. 

The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the first on back-to-back doubles from Taylor Lomack and Alex Ray

Jeff Athey led off the second with a double and scored two batters later on Eric Hernandez' single to left. Athey's two-run homer in the fourth capped a four-run inning and increased the Eagles' lead to 6-1. 

Tallahassee posted its second four-run inning in the sixth. 

Five different players had multi-hit games for the Eagles – Lomack, Athey and Hernandez were 2-for-3; Logan Lacey and Cyrus Grimes were 2-for-4. Grimes had four RBIs. 

Leighton Alley (2-0) pitched 3.2 innings in relief of Chase Hatfield to pick up the win. 

The Eagles pounded out 13 hits in the game two win. 

The two through six spots in the batting order combined for 12 of the 13 hits. Lomack was 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs. Ridge Abinsay was also 3-for-3. 

Ray, Grimes and Hernandez had two hits each. 

Andrew Shivak (1-3) struck out seven over four innings for the win. 

Tallahassee (17-12) will play its final non-conference games of the season on Monday when it hosts Lafleche (Canada) College for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
