#TCCBaseball sweeps DH from Gulf Coast State

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (March 30, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College swept a Panhandle Conference baseball doubleheader at Gulf Coast State College on Saturday, winning game one, 6-5 in eight innings, then claiming game two, 9-5.

Tallahassee improved to 23-15 overall with the wins and moved into third place in the PC standings at 4-7.

In game one, the Commodores scored twice in the bottom of the seventh against Tallahassee starter Chase Forester to tie the game at 4-all and force extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Logan Lacey drew a one-out walk and eventually scored the go-ahead run on Trent Jeffcoat's sac-fly. Taylor Lomack followed with an RBI-single, scoring Cameron Wright, and the Eagles led 6-4.

Tyler Lehrmann came on to pitch the eighth and record his second save while preserving the victory for Forester, who improved to 4-1.

Tallahassee had just five hits. Lacey was 2-for-2, homered and scored three times.

Lehrmann (6-3) returned to the bump for a five inning stint in relief in game two and earned the win.

Tallahassee led 3-0 after a half inning, but the Commodores erased the deficit and eventually led 5-4 through three.

The Eagles regained the lead with two runs in the fourth then added two in the fifth and an insurance run in the seventh.

Ridge Abinsay and Cyrus Grimes led Tallahassee's 13-hit attack with three hits each.

Tallahassee and Gulf Coast State will conclude their four-game series at Eagle Field on Tuesday. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
