#TCCBaseball: Indians take series opener

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 12, 2019) – Chipola College took the first game of a two-game weekend series with Tallahassee Community College, defeating the Eagles, 12-2, on Friday evening at Eagle Field.

The loss pushed Tallahassee (27-17, 8-9 Panhandle Conference) closer to elimination from postseason contention. Chipola (25-14, 12-5) owns a four-game lead in the standings, but also possesses the head-to-head tie-breaker, which translates to a five-game cushion with just seven games remaining.

The teams will wrap up their season series at 2 p.m. eastern on Saturday in Marianna.

Trailing 4-0 through two innings, Tallahassee got on the scoreboard in the third. Logan Lacey reached on an error to score Ridge Abinsay, who reached base with a one-out single. Another Chipola error resulted in the second run of the inning and the Eagles had cut the Indians' lead in half.

Chipola responded with four runs in the fourth to take a stranglehold on the game. The Indians added three more in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Tyler Lala (2-for-3) was the lone Eagle with multiple hits.

Tanner Martin (1-3) took the loss for Tallahassee.
