#TCCBaseball: Eagles fall in walk-off to Raiders

NICEVILLE, Fla. (April 19, 2019) – Northwest Florida State College won a back-and-forth affair with Tallahassee Community College on Friday evening, defeating the Eagles, 8-7.

The loss eliminated Tallahassee (28-18, 9-10 Panhandle Conference) from postseason contention.

With the game tied at seven, an infield single put the winning run on at first in the bottom of the ninth for Northwest Florida State. The next batter, Mikey Madej, laid down a sacrifice bunt but pitcher Tyler Lehrmann's throw sailed wide of the first base bag and down the right field line, allowing Kaden Polcovich to score all the way from first for the walk-off victory.

Earlier, Tallahassee rallied from deficits of 3-1 and 6-4 to take the lead on two different occasions.

In the top of the sixth, Logan Lacey blasted a three-run shot, scoring Ridge Abinsay and Tyler Lala, to put the Eagles in front, 4-3.

Aided by three Tallahassee errors, Northwest Florida State got the three runs back in the bottom half to go back in front, 6-4.

The Eagles regained the lead in the eighth. With runners on first and second and two outs, Trent Jeffcoat doubled to right, scoring Lacey and Cameron Wright. Jeffcoat advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on an error to give Tallahassee a 7-6 lead.

Northwest Florida State took advantage of another Tallahassee error and a pair of wild pitches to tie the game in the bottom half.

Lacey went 3-for-5 with four RBI for Tallahassee.

Lehrmann (7-4) took the loss for the Eagles.
