#TCCBaseball’s Taylor Lomack drafted by San Diego Padres
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 6, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's Taylor Lomack was selected by the San Diego Padres in Wednesday's 24th round of Major League Baseball's 2019 First-year Player Draft.
Lomack was the sixth player taken off the board in Round 24 and the 713th player taken overall in the three-day event.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Lomack played centerfield for the Eagles in 2018 and 2019.
This past season, he appeared in 51 games and led the team in batting average (.378), on-base percentage (.443), runs (42), hits (70), doubles (12), RBI (36) and stolen bases (25). His .454 slugging percentage was second on the team.
Those numbers earned Lomack first-team All-Panhandle Conference and FCSAA All-State honors. He was also voted the No. 9 player overall in the Panhandle Conference.
While Lomack was the only current player selected, one future Eagle did hear his name called.
Dilan Lawson, a right-hander pitcher out of Madison County High School in Madison, Fla., was drafted in the 37th round by the New York Mets.
At the time of this release, Lawson has indicated he intends to honor his commitment to the Eagles. Lomack, meanwhile, will decide between signing with the Padres or attending Jacksonville University, where he received an athletic scholarship.
