Stepping Stones: Alex Ray, Louisiana Tech
This is the ninth installment in TCC Athletics' 2019 Stepping Stones series
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 15, 2019)—Tallahassee Community College baseball standout Alex Ray has signed a national letter of intent with Louisiana Tech University.
Ray, who is from Longwood, Fla., played his freshman season at Florida Atlantic University before eventually transferring to Tallahassee from Santa Fe College.
As a sophomore for head coach Mike McLeod's Eagles in 2019, the 5-foot-11 Ray was the team's starting shortstop. In 43 games, he posted a .279 batting average and 25 RBI while scoring 31 runs.
Ray earned all-academic honors from both the FCSAA and Panhandle Conference in 2019.
Located in Ruston, La., the NCAA Division I Bulldogs compete in Conference USA.
