TCC men pick up last second victory over CGT in Classic finale

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 3, 2012) - Sophomore transfer Bernard Kline hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 25 seconds remaining and it proved to be the game-winner for FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee Community College in a 74-72 win over Central Georgia Technical College in Saturday's final game at the Tallahassee Democrat Tip-off Classic.

Trailing 72-70, Trevor McDade found Kline open on the left wing and the Western Wyoming Community College transfer delivered, hitting his third three-pointer of the evening to cap a 14-point effort.

The game was far from over, however. On the Cougars' ensuing possession, the Eagles forced a turnover then got one of two free throws from Curtis Diamond for a 74-72 lead. Following a timeout, Central Georgia Tech played for overtime but Cameron Baker's potential game-tying shot was blocked by freshman Jon Hood as time expired.

After falling 71-69 to Gadsden State (Ala.) Community College in Friday's season opener, Tallahassee was trying to avoid the first 0-2 start in program history. Central Georgia Tech gave the Eagles a run for their money, forcing a 31-all tie at the half and taking a two-point lead into the final half minute of the game.

After shooting 18-of-37 in Friday's loss, McDade led an improved effort at the free throw line on Saturday, hitting 10-of-12 and finishing with a game-high 25 points.

C.J. Washington added 12 and Hood scored 10.

Gadsden State defeated Florida State College at Jacksonville, 74-67, in Saturday's first game and finished the weekend with a pair of victories.

Tallahassee (1-1) returns to action on Friday when it travels to Gainesville, Fla., for a 6 p.m. contest against Santa Fe College.
