TCC men defeat MMI behind Trevor McDade’s double-double

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 21, 2012) – Freshman guard Trevor McDade scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead FCSAA No. 7 Tallahassee Community College to an 83-52 win over Marion (Ala.) Military Institute on day one at the TCC Basketball Thanksgiving Classic presented by G&G Caribbean Restaurant. 

Tallahassee, playing its first home game since wrapping up a 3-1 road trip, won its fourth straight game to improve its record to 5-2. 

McDade hit eight of his 11 field goal attempts and 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. He also recorded three assists and four steals. 

Tallahassee struggled from the floor in the opening half, hitting only 10-of-28 (35.7 percent) shots, but connected on 13-of-18 free throws and led 36-26 at the intermission. 

The Eagles opened the second half on a 22-10 run to seize control and a 58-36 lead with 11:37 remaining in the game. 

Tallahassee blistered the nets in the second 20 minutes, shooting 21-of-41 (51.2 percent) from the floor to outscore the Tigers, 47-26. 

The Eagles turned in another strong defensive effort, holding their opponent to 52 points or less for the third straight game. Marion shot only 39.6 percent (21-of-53) from the field and committed 22 turnovers. 

Tallahassee also dominated the glass, outrebounding Marion, 50-30. 

Raheem Mosely was the only Tiger player in double-figures with 13 points. 

Tallahassee will look to run its winning streak to five on Thursday when it hosts Jefferson Davis (Ala.) Community College in the final game of the Thanksgiving Classic.

Jefferson Davis lost to Aiken (S.C.) Technical College, 70-59, in Wednesday's first men's game.
