Eagles win fifth straight, cruise past Jeff Davis in Thanksgiving Classic finale

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 22, 2012) – Freshman Jonathan Hood came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points to lead FCSAA No. 7 Tallahassee Community College to a 94-49 win over Jefferson Davis (Ala.) Community College in Thursday's final game at the TCC Basketball Thanksgiving Classic presented by G&G Caribbean Restaurant. 

Led by Hood and reigning Big Bend Player of the Year Alex Andrews, who scored 14 points, Tallahassee's reserves outscored its Jeff Davis counterparts, 52-23. Hood did his scoring on 7-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-6 three-pointers. 

Trevor McDade was the third Tallahassee player in double-figures with 18 points. 

Tallahassee (6-2) has now won five straight games since starting the season 1-2. 

The Eagles never trailed on Thursday, jumping out to an 18-8 lead less than eight minutes into the game. The lead hit 20 (39-19) following a three-pointer by Hood at the 2:14 mark of the first half, and Tallahassee led 41-22 at the intermission. 

The second half was all Tallahassee as the Eagles shot a blistering 71.0 percent (22-of-31) from the floor. 

Already in front by 22, Tallahassee went on a 15-2 run, capped by an Andrews basket, which gave the Eagles a 72-37 advantage with 8:02 left in the game. Tallahassee outscored the Warhawks, 22-6, over the final 7:09. 

The Eagles finished the night shooting 54.7 percent (35-of-64) from the field, won the rebounding battle (39-25) and converted 20 Jeff Davis turnovers into 17 points. 

Adrian Rich was the lone Jeff Davis player in double figures with 11 points. 

Tallahassee will return to action on Friday when it travels to Marianna, Fla., for the annual Milton H. Johnson Panhandle Classic. 

Marion (Ala.) Military Institute defeated Aiken (S.C.) Technical College, 47-44, in Thursday's first men's game.
