TCC men, women open 2012-13 basketball season November 2-3

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 30, 2012) – Tallahassee Community College will open the 2012-13 basketball season by hosting the Tallahassee Democrat Tip-off Classic, Friday and Saturday, November 2-3 at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.

Tallahassee's men's and women's basketball teams are co-hosting this year's event, which will feature a total of eight teams from Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Each day's schedule will include four games – an afternoon session beginning at 2 p.m. and an evening session, featuring a Tallahassee doubleheader, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, the action begins at 2 p.m. with women's action between Gadsden State (Ala.) Community College and Central Georgia Technical College. Men's action will follow at 4 p.m. between Central Georgia Tech and Florida State College at Jacksonville.

In the evening session, the Tallahassee women will tip off its season at 6:30 p.m. against Albany (Ga.) Technical College. The Eagle men will follow suit at 8:30 p.m. against Gadsden State.

On Saturday, the 2 p.m. game will pit the Gadsden State women against Albany Tech followed by Gadsden State and Florida State College in a 4 p.m. men's contest.

The evening session will be a Tallahassee-Central Georgia Tech doubleheader, beginning with women's action at 6:30 p.m. followed by the men at 8:30 p.m.

General admission is $5 daily. TCC students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a valid TCC ID.

On Saturday, all proceeds from ticket sales will support the United Way of the Big Bend.
