Eagles fly past Santa Fe at Panhandle Classic

MARIANNA, Fla. (December 1, 2012) - FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee Community College won its seventh straight game on Saturday, defeating Santa Fe College 82-63 at Chipola College's Milton H. Johnson Panhandle Classic.

The Eagles' win also snapped a three-game losing streak in the head-to-head series with the Saints, which included an 86-85 setback at Santa Fe on November 9.

Tallahassee, unbeaten in seven games, including five on the road since last month's loss at Santa Fe, now owns an 8-2 record. The Saints are 5-4.

Trevor McDade and Curtis Diamond had 11 points apiece in the first half to help stake Tallahassee to a 43-29 lead at the intermission. The Eagles also helped themselves by hitting all nine of their first half free throw attempts.

Santa Fe opened the second half on a 10-2 run to pull within six, 45-39, but Tallahassee regained the momentum and gradually pulled away over the final ten minutes.

McDade finished with a game-high 23 points while Diamond and Alex Andrews added 15 points each. C.J. Washington scored 13.

Tallahassee returns to action next Saturday in Ocala, Fla., at the annual Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout with an FCSAA top ten matchup against State College of Florida. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
