Brevard rallies past Tallahassee in Shootout finale

OCALA, Fla. (December 9, 2012) - FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee Community College dropped its second straight game on Sunday afternoon, falling to No. 10 Brevard Community College (10-3), 87-82, in the final game of the annual Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout.

After having a seven-game winning streak snapped on Saturday at the hands of State College of Florida, Tallahassee seemed poised to respond, and in convincing fashion, against Brevard, who also had a seven-game win streak come to an end on Saturday in a loss to Gulf Coast State College.

Trailing 34-30, the Eagles scored the final six points of the first half and carried a 36-34 lead to the locker room. Intermission did little to slow down Tallahassee's momentum.

The Eagles came out on fire in the second half, scoring the first 17 points to extend their lead to 53-34 with just under 16 minutes left in the game.

But by the 11-minute mark, Brevard had rattled off a 20-0 run to grab a 54-53 lead.

With the game tied at 57, Nyles Evans' three-pointer gave Brevard a 60-57 lead and the Titans never trailed again. Evans finished with 16 points, all in the second half.

Luka Pajkovic led the Titans with 25 points.

Curtis Diamond led five Eagles in double-figures with 19 points. C.J. Washington and Jonathan Hood scored 17 points each. Trevor McDade added 13 and Marlon Johnson, 10.

Tallahassee, now 8-4 on the season, will try to rebound with a pair of home games this weekend. The Eagles host St. Petersburg College at 6 p.m. Friday and Daytona State College at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Both games will be carried by Panhandle Sports Broadcasting at www.PSBlive.com.
