TCC men, women return to play by hosting Comfort Inn Holiday Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 26, 2012) – Tallahassee Community College's men's and women's basketball teams resume play on Friday, December 28 by hosting the Comfort Inn Holiday Classic.

The two-day, eight-team event will continue on Saturday, December 29.

The Tallahassee men have not played since defeating Daytona State College, 87-69, on December 15. The NJCAA No. 22/FCSAA No. 4 Lady Eagles are enjoying an even longer break, having last played on December 8, a 49-46 win at Indian River State College.

This weekend's games will also serve as both teams' final tuneup for Panhandle Conference play, which begins Saturday, January 5 with a doubleheader at Chipola College.

Both days of the Comfort Inn Holiday Classic will feature an afternoon session, with games at 1 and 3 p.m., followed by a Tallahassee doubleheader in the evening session at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The Tallahassee men, 10-4 on the season, will carry a two-game winning streak into the Classic and a pair of games against NJCAA Region 17 (Georgia) opponents – East Georgia State College (7:30 p.m. Friday) and Gordon State College (7:30 p.m. Saturday).

The 3 p.m. men's games will feature Florida State College at Jacksonville against Gordon State (Friday) and East Georgia State (Saturday).

Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles, who have won six in a row and are 10-2 on the season, will match up against Georgia Perimeter College (5:30 p.m. Friday) and College of Central Florida (5:30 p.m. Saturday).

The 1 p.m. women's games will feature Indian River State against Central Florida (Friday) and Georgia Perimeter (Saturday).

General admission is $5 daily for adults. Children 12 and under are admitted free. TCC students, faculty and staff will receive free admission with a valid TCC ID.

On December 28, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will support the Big Bend Homeless Coalition.

Coming Thursday: Capsules of participating teams in the Comfort Inn Holiday Classic.
