TCC men come up short at Pensacola State

PENSACOLA, Fla. (January 19, 2013) – Pensacola State College jumped out to a 17-4 lead and never looked back, defeating Tallahassee Community College, 76-63, on Saturday evening.

After defeating Chipola College on Tuesday, the win over Tallahassee evened Pensacola State's Panhandle Conference record at 2-2, lifting the Pirates into a three-way tie for second place with Chipola and Gulf Coast State College. The Eagles sit two games back at 0-4 in league play.

Four different players combined to hit five consecutive three-pointers during the Pirates' opening blitz, which eventually resulted in a 40-27 halftime lead.

Pensacola State increased its lead to 18 before Tallahassee made a run. The Eagles got as close as eight (69-61) with two minutes to go, but the Pirates put the game away at the foul line, where they hit 30-of-39 on the night and outscored the Eagles by 19.

Tallahassee was led by Bernard Kline's 16 points.

Curtis Diamond added 15 points and Jonathan Hood, 14.

The Eagles will try to get into the winner's column in league play when they host arch-rival Chipola College on Tuesday. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
