Northwest Florida State up next for TCC Basketball

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 2, 2013) - The second half of Tallahassee Community College's Panhandle Conference basketball season ensues on Saturday evening when the Eagles head west for a doubleheader at Northwest Florida State College.

Game times are 6:30 p.m. (women) and 8:30 p.m. (men) eastern and both games will be carried by Panhandle Sports Broadcasting at www.PSBlive.com.

The opener will be yet another matchup of nationally-ranked teams for the Tallahassee women. FCSAA top-ranked Northwest Florida State (20-2) brings a No. 5 NJCAA ranking into the game while Tallahassee (13-7) boasts No. 4 (FCSAA) and No. 18 (NJCAA) rankings.

With Gulf Coast State College idle on Saturday, a win will give Northwest Florida State sole possession of first place in the Panhandle Conference standings. Both teams are currently 5-2, one-half game ahead of Chipola College (4-2) and 2.5 games ahead of Tallahassee (2-4), who desperately needs a victory if it hopes to stay in contention for the FCSAA Tournament and a possible at-large berth in the NJCAA Tournament.

Tallahassee narrowly missed scoring a huge victory at Gulf Coast State on Wednesday, falling 77-75 despite a school-record 38 points from Jeraldine Campbell.

In Saturday's men's game, Tallahassee (12-10, 0-6) will try to snap a school-record six-game losing streak against the Raiders, who are ranked No. 3 in the FCSAA Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll (No. 11 NJCAA).

Three of Tallahassee's six PC losses have come by single digits, including a January 15 loss at home to Northwest Florida State. The Eagles led by 19 points in the first half before falling to the Raiders, 76-68.

On Wednesday, Tallahassee suffered a 73-72 loss at Gulf Coast State.
