TCC’s Curtis Diamond inks with Georgia Southern

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 14, 2013) - Tallahassee Community College men's basketball standout Curtis Diamond has signed a national letter of intent with Georgia Southern University.

Diamond, who hails from Lithonia, Ga., will return to his home state for the final two years of his collegiate career after helping Tallahassee collect 30 wins from 2011-13.

"Curtis brings needed experience and maturity to our team," said Georgia Southern head coach Mark Byington. "He can play either guard position and is a great shooter. Our staff also liked that he has great poise and pace to his game."

Diamond didn't miss a game during his two seasons at Tallahassee – as a freshman, he primarily saw action as a reserve but moved into a starting role in 2012-13.

As a sophomore, he more than doubled his scoring output, averaging 12.7 points per game, compared to just 5.1 as a freshman. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists and shot a team-high 40.9 percent from the three-point line en route to second-team all-Panhandle Conference honors.

For his career, Diamond averaged 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 56 games.

Georgia Southern, located in Statesboro, Ga., will play the 2013-14 season as a member of the Southern Conference before joining the Sun Belt Conference beginning with the 2014-15 campaign.
